A Buddy of mine runs an organization that takes on the fight against Alzheimer’s. The Sharon Antcliff Foundation has something called SAF Warriors which calls MMA fighters to get into the movement to help those fighting Alzheimer’s. Beginning tomorrow, an auction with a lot of great MMA related products and services will be in full effect. Buy great things, and help this great organization. Details below:

Caring for a person with young-onset Alzheimer’s is a fight.

Every morning, caregivers wake up to a day filled with challenges. Perhaps the family is fighting for financial survival. Maybe the caregiver is worn to their limits and needs just a weekend away, but is unable to find the money or support to make it happen. The caregiver might just need a few minutes each week to talk to someone to allow them to get some much-needed perspective.

The Warrior Auction, featuring items ranging from autographed collectibles, to valuable services, to women’s clothing and accessories, will give bidders the chance to help SAF kick of their official efforts to raise funds and awareness to help these caregivers make the daily fight just a little bit easier. With roughly 500,000 people dealing with YOAD, and dwindling resources to aid them and their families, the time is now for somebody to step up and do something to help.

That’s exactly what SAF is doing.

The Warrior Auction will begin on September 1, 2009, and it will run for two weeks. Winners for the items will be announced within 48 hours of the end of the auction. Bidding on all items starts at one penny, and shipping will be covered by SAF. All funds raised will go directly to SAF to help them cover their basic start-up expenses.

More items are being added to the roster this week, but a current listing can be found at http://safwarriors.org/warriorblog/blog/.

As a side-note, the Executive Director of SAF has promised that if the auction hits its financial goal of $3,000, he will have the SAF Warriors logo tattooed on his shoulder. It would be his first, and likely only, tattoo.

For more information, or to discuss how you can help us promote this event, please contact us through any of the listed numbers/emails.

ABOUT THE SHARON ANTCLIFF FOUNDATION

The Sharon Antcliff Foundation is dedicated to making the day-to-day lives of young-onset Alzheimer’s caregivers just a little easier. There are over 500,000 families dealing with physical, emotional, and financial stresses that result from providing in-home care, and there are extremely limited resources available to help them. The SAF will consider all requests for assistance from care-giving families, including rent assistance, payments for professional, in-home care, and travel expenses to bring in family hoping to help. SAF is one of the only organizations in the United States dedicated to raising funds and awareness for young-onset Alzheimer’s.

The SAF is based in Henderson, CO, but will be serving families nationwide.
