MMA, Training

An injury eventually creeps up on everyone. Whether it be a major one or just a sprain. The most common ones however are the minor injuries which are usually acute soft tissue injuries.

Acute Soft Tissue Injuries

  • Sprains
  • Bruises
  • Springs
  • Tares

If one of these come up during training, just think RICE.

Rest – Don’t use it
Ice – It’s cold, ice or a bag of frozen vegetables
Compression – Wrap it up, bandages or wraps
Elevation – reduces swelling

Though the order of the RICE method isn’t correct, it’ll help you remember how to treat these minor MMA injuries. You want to first stop whatever you’re doing, then compress the injured area, then ice and lastly elevate. Now if the pain is oddly around for too long, please be smart enough to see your doctor.
