These gloves have lasted me for two years of throwing combinations against sparring partners, dropping bombs during ground & pound and throwing thousands of punches during drills. These 70$ gloves are obviously from Combat Sports which are great for MMA sparring. There is a great amount of technology below the surface of the gloves that I don’t want to get into and I figure no one cares. The bottom line is, the gloves protect your fists really well.
Pros
- Durable
- Lightweight
- Allows mobility for jiu jitsu
Cons
- Expensive compared to other gloves
- Not good bag gloves
More About The Cons
I don’t know if it’s just me but after doing bag or pad work my pinky knuckle gets all cut up. It seems to be the gloves irritating my knuckle and causing the skin to get all cut up. It feels like really terrible rug burn that takes a long time to heal. Now, it’s a possibility it maybe the glove size or I don’t know how to punch but I doubt it.
I would buy them if you have the money, if you don’t there are many cheaper solutions. Do you own these gloves? Let me hear your review.

are you wrapping your hands? If not maybe thats the reason you are getting sore nuckles.

Eduardo,
Thanks for commenting! I am indeed wrapping my hands, I think it’s just how the gloves fit I suppose.

If your pinky is suffering damage than you should try emphasizing your power line more into your punches and rotating your fist over about 45(degrees) towards the floor. I’m sure you already do that though.
BTW: do you recommend boxing gloves and head gear to practice striking?

Nate,
It seems to just be friction from the glove, or maybe it is my form. I’ll definitely take notice of how I throw my punches. I use 20oz gloves to when I spar to help build my shoulders when I do muay thai sparring. I don’t use head gear, but I probably should start using it. Doesn’t hurt to protect yourself because head gear doesn’t really effect mobility much. Thanks for commenting.

Jimmy I think that the knuckles are just a part of the game… just by me looking at mine right now I can tell you calloused knuckles def help in the long run…

On that same note, I was having the same problem working the bag with my own gloves… I changed my punching form for the better and now I don’t even get cut anymore. Hope that helps

Jonathan,
Thanks for the feedback. It seems to be my second knuckle being cut up but only when I throw a bad hook. So you’re completely right, punching form is that much more important.
